Isn't too early for tantrums!? I mean Elliott is only 17.5 months old. Elliott has been throwing a fit whenever we do things he does not want to do, like every diaper change, not getting everything he wants in the store, etc. It is driving me insane! Every diaper change is a challenge...I have to either be very playful with him or bribe him with something new or interesting for him to lie still for a minute. And being pregnant at 8 months, it isn't an easy task to fight his resistance.
And then at night an hour before bedtime, he is attached to my hip. No one can touch him. He cries "mama" nonstop when I need to do something else even when we are in the same room. He won't let me put him down for a diaper change nor to wash his hands... Few have told me that it's because he can sense the arrival of a new baby and he just wants more love and attention.
I hope the clinginess will be just a short period because after baby sister arrives, daddy or grandma will need to take care of him while I take care of the baby. As for the tantrums, we would be very lucky if it's a short phase but I doubt it. From reading and hearing from other parents, the tantrums usually taper off slowly once their language development is more solid.
